I'm getting old

I've had some time off of work so I decided to do a little winter cleaning. amongst old dried out pens and saved clippings from magazines I found a bunch of old floppy disks and zip disks from the old college days. Josh and I decided to go to Fry's in an attempt to get a floppy drive and possibly a zip drive (if they had one). We knew most likely that they wouldn't have zip drives anymore but figured it was worth a shot for the floppy drive.

As we're wondering the isles we see an isle sign that says floppy and zip drives (go figure one isle with the 2 things I need) at least I thought, except it turns out that sign was probably made 10 years ago and hasn't been updated since. The isle was filled mostly with CD/DVD drives and blank CDs/DVDs. in the corner we see one (JUST ONE) removable floppy drive and it was a return! I figure that's ok, I'll take it! (I'm kinda desperate at this point).

Meanwhile I hear someone behind us say "hey" we turn around and it's one of my co-workers (an engineer). It turned out he was there to buy some blank DVDs. I tell him that I'm doing a little cleaning and found some old zip disks, and he says "oh one of those, you're doing this now? I did that 10 years ago." well I knew he'd say something snarky, I deserved it, but it still bothers me that Fry's didn't have them. So I see a free worker in the isle (which is rare usually most of the workers are busy) so I decide to ask him if they have any zip drives. He must have been a lot younger than he looked (the suit threw me off) He looked at me puzzled and said "zip drive? I don't know what that is..." I started to explain, "it's like a floppy only it holds more, it's kinda old..." then I just cut myself off and said "it's ok, you know what's weird is that the isle sign says floppy and zip disks...whatever I'm sure you don't have them".

The whole drive home I was annoyed...why would they have an isle sign for something that the store no longer carries or ever plans on carrying. Ugh. I am getting old.

Dolls anyone?

Recently my friend Jenn and I were invited to a Christmas Boutique to have a table there and be vendors (sounds so official) I'm pretty excited about it and thought I better start making stuff for it so I made these cute dolls!

The boy doll without hair and shoes is still work in progress but you get the idea. The awesome thing about them is that their clothes and shoes come off and are interchangeable! I plan on making more variety and putting them up on etsy.

Pelham's Nightmare Before Christmas Pillow

I’m super proud of this pillow! I made it using a t-shirt I bought form hot topic and then cut out the print and sewed it onto some fleece fabric and bam! a pillow. It has a black zipper which allows for easy washing. Also I used a bamboo pillow insert (only the best for Pel!) The other awesome thing about it is the tag, which is a felt tag with embroidered letters that say “Happy Birthday Pel!”
